Playful Wisdom

One of the fundamental elements of foreign thinking is imagination, yet after childhood, many of us lose this ability. What advice do you have for getting it back?

Just because we’re adults, that doesn’t mean we have to make life all about work. Learn how play can benefit your relationships, job, and mood.

The value of adult play

Many of us focus so much on our work and family obligations in our busy, modern lives that we never seem to have time for pure fun. We stopped playing sometime between childhood and adulthood. In our spare time, we're more likely to lose ourselves in front of the TV or computer than play games that are enjoyable and restorative as we did when we were kids. However, play is not only crucial for children; it may also be a significant source of stimulation and relaxation for adults.

Playing with your significant other, friends, coworkers, dogs, and kids is a surefire (and enjoyable) method to boost your creativity, inventiveness, problem-solving skills, and emotional health. Play for adults is a time to forget.

Playing with your significant other, friends, coworkers, dogs, and kids is a surefire (and enjoyable) method to boost your creativity, inventiveness, problem-solving skills, and emotional health.

Adult play is a time to unwind from obligations and work and engage in creative, unstructured social interaction.

Play can be as simple as having fun with friends, telling jokes to coworkers, throwing a frisbee on the beach, dressing up for Halloween with your children, making a snowman in the yard, playing fetch with a dog, putting on charades at a party, or taking a bike ride with your spouse with no particular destination in mind. The only requirement for the activity is that you have fun and enjoy yourself. Giving yourself permission to play with the joyous abandon of childhood will have a huge positive impact on your health over the course of your life.

The advantages of play

Play is helpful for people of all ages, but it is especially important for a child's growth. Play may make life more enjoyable, reduce stress, accelerate learning, and help you connect with others and the outside world. Play may enhance both the enjoyment and productivity of work.

However, for maximum benefits, play should involve at least one other person and take place away from the sensory-overload of electronic devices. You can play alone or with a pet.

It's simple to fall into the trap of believing that having or starting a real estate business is a difficult undertaking that requires a unique individual and the ideal circumstances. Don't get me wrong, I recognize that some real estate businesses are considerably more difficult to launch than others, but I also strongly believe in keeping things straightforward and honest. I aim to keep things as simple as possible and focus on conducting business by putting one foot in front of the other and remember to play!

Play is good for:

  • Stress relief. Play is enjoyable and can cause the body's natural feel-good hormones, endorphins, to be released. Endorphins help people feel better overall and can even temporarily make pain go away.

  • Increase brain activity Playing chess, solving puzzles, or engaging in other enjoyable mental challenges can assist to improve memory and brain function. Playing with family and friends promotes social connection, which can help prevent sadness and stress.

  • Increase creativity and mental stimulation. Play is frequently the best form of learning for young children, and this idea also holds true for adults. When a task is enjoyable and you're feeling carefree and jocular, you'll learn it more quickly. Play can help you adapt and solve issues by stimulating your imagination.

  • Boost connections with others and your relationships. Gaining empathy, compassion, trust, and intimacy via sharing laughing and enjoyment with others. Play can be a state of mind as opposed to being limited to a single activity. Having a fun disposition might make it easier for you to relax in demanding circumstances, establish rapport with strangers, create new acquaintances, and build new business partnerships.

  • Maintain your youthful and active feeling. George Bernard Shaw once said, "We don't stop playing because we grow old; we stop playing because we get old." Your ability to perform at your best can be improved via play, which can increase your energy and vitality as well as your disease resistance.

  • Increasing creativity and productivity through play. Success at work depends on the calibre of your job, not how much time you put into it. Additionally, your health has a significant impact on the calibre of your business. One of the best things you can do for your job is to take the time to recharge through play. Take a break to play and laugh when the project you're working on experiences a significant hiccup. Playing for a while accomplishes far more than just diverting your attention from the issue. Playing activates your brain's creative side while silencing your "inner editor," a mental block that suppresses your thoughts and ideas. You can frequently benefit from doing this.

Stay playful (pun fully intended)

A real estate business venture is SO MUCH FUN! Even though there will inevitably be anxious moments when you're unsure of what to do or find yourself in a tricky situation, the tremendously rewarding events will far outweigh these. I frequently just take a half-day trip to go adventuring to remind myself of the position I've created for myself by beginning my business. I've personally promised never to lose sight of how fortunate I am to be running my own business. I've gotten to know a lot of people —individuals who are also business owners and share my values—and I'm continually motivated by them. Have fun, but don't overdo it.

I also encourage being playful with your clients! I am, with National Knock Knock Day coming up on October 31 and you can too. Here is a template that you can customize and send to your clients or post on your social media or blog.
